Where Is My Value?
Let Two of My Clients Answer That.

← Back to The Journal

I could tell you what I do for my clients. I could walk you through the process, explain the research, describe the supplier relationships and the deal monitoring and the advocacy. I have done that in other posts and I meant every word of it.

But sometimes the clearest answer to a question does not come from the person being asked. It comes from the people with firsthand experience.

So let me step back for a moment and let two of my recent clients answer this one.

A Honeymoon in Italy

This couple came to me with a destination in mind, a list of things they wanted to do, and a budget. That is genuinely all I needed.

Here is what they said when they got home:

Italian Honeymoon
★★★★★
"Jill did an amazing job planning our whole honeymoon and it was such an easy process. We told Jill activities we wanted to do and a budget and she took care of the rest. She communicated every detail and even gave us suggestions on places to eat and sites to see along the way."

Read that again. They gave me a direction. I gave them a honeymoon.

The part that stands out to me is the word easy. Italy is not an easy destination to plan from scratch. It is layered and rich and full of decisions that feel small but matter enormously — which neighborhoods to stay in, which restaurants are worth the wait versus which ones are tourist traps, how to structure the days so you are not exhausted by day three, how to build in the moments that feel spontaneous even though someone thought carefully about making them possible. They did not have to figure any of that out. They just had to show up.

A Honeymoon in Jamaica

This one hits differently because this client has traveled a lot. She said so herself. She knows what it feels like when travel is disorganized and stressful. She had the comparison point that most first-time honeymooners do not have yet.

Here is what she said:

Jamaica Honeymoon
★★★★★
"Jill helped coordinate pretty much everything for this trip. It made it an easy and relaxing time. Without her, it would've been a ton more stressful and a pain to figure out. We knew exactly what to do and where to go to get to and from Jamaica. I've been on tons of vacations where traveling is a pain and not coordinated. Jill helped to coordinate getting my husband certified in scuba diving and that was so helpful as well. We had a wonderful time thanks to Jill."

Two things jump out at me in that review.

The first is that she knew exactly what to do and where to go at every point in the trip. That kind of clarity does not happen by accident. It happens because someone thought through every transition, every handoff, every moment where confusion could creep in, and eliminated it before the clients ever had to encounter it. The second thing is the scuba certification. That is not a standard honeymoon package item. That is something specific to who her husband is and what he wanted from this trip. Coordinating that alongside everything else is exactly the kind of personalization that does not show up in a brochure but shows up in a review written by someone whose husband got to do something he genuinely wanted to do on his honeymoon.

"The value of working with a travel advisor is not always visible on the front end. You see it when you land in a foreign country and you know exactly what to do next."

So Where Is the Value?

It is in the word easy, repeated independently by two different clients on two completely different trips in two completely different countries.

It is in the fact that a seasoned traveler who knew what bad coordination felt like chose the word wonderful to describe what good coordination looked like.

It is in the scuba certification that got handled. In the restaurant suggestions that came from someone who actually knew. In the communication that covered every detail so nothing was left to chance or anxiety.

Here is what I want you to understand. The value of working with a travel advisor is not always visible on the front end. You do not see it in the proposal. You do not see it in the planning calls. You see it when you land in a foreign country and you know exactly what to do next. You see it when something on your itinerary is tailored so specifically to you that it could not have come from a search engine. You see it when you come home and the word that keeps coming to mind is easy.

That is what I do. Not just for Italy clients and Jamaica clients. For your trip too, whatever and wherever it is.
